Tetra racks are solid rectangular blocks, perforated in the largest surface by a regular array of holes of the same diameter. Small feet on the bottom of the block permit it to stand a small distance off any surface and allow the racks to be easily stacked for storage, both loaded or unloaded. The solid "block" design of the rack makes it physically stable and resistant to tipping because of its low centre of gravity.
10mm, 12mm and 16mm racks have drainage holes in the bottom of each test tube cavity. (This enables the rack to be used in water baths or similar and facilitates cleaning of the rack).
These racks also feature an alphanumeric array that permits easy identification of individual test tubes when the rack is in use.
